Job Overview

Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Locum Consultant Rheumatologist to join our Rheumatology department at Mile End Hospital site. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a team of 17 Consultant Rheumatologists across the trust, providing general out-patient adult rheumatology care without out-of-hours on-call commitment.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive specialist service for rheumatology patients, working closely with other consultants and professionals to provide high-quality care. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing general out-patient adult rheumatology care, with a case-mix of new and follow-up patients
  • Supervising the management of patients admitted under their care, including liaison with other specialists and agencies
  • Contributing to the development of a sub-specialty interest and engaging with existing research programs and clinical trials across Barts Health

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • MRCP or equivalent qualification
  • CCST (or within 6 months of date of interview) or on specialist register
  • GMC registration
  • Higher Specialist Training in Rheumatology
  • Audit experience and ability to advise on efficient and smooth running of a specialist service
  • Experience of supervising doctors in training and teaching clinical skills
