Ophthalmology Consultant Position

Job Summary
This is a substantive Consultant post in Ophthalmology, attracting 10 Programmed Activities per week.
Ophthalmology is part of the Planned Care Directorate at East Cheshire NHS Trust, which is one of three Directorates within the Trust.
The post holder is expected to have general ophthalmology experience and be fully competent in phacoemulsification - cataract surgery.
Applicants must continue to hold a Licence to Practise and meet the person specification requirements.
Key Responsibilities
The key responsibilities of the role include:
- Active involvement and leadership in management and decision making of complex ophthalmic cases.
- Being available during the working week for medical and nursing staff to communicate and consult freely.
- Closing liaison with Operational Line managers and the Clinical Lead to ensure waiting list targets and associated standards are achieved.
- Ensuring management plans are clearly displayed in patient notes with complex needs.

NHS Medical and Dental salaries are set at a national level. New starters will be appointed to the minimum paypoint, with the potential to increase paypoints based on relevant experience.
