SEN Play Therapist Assistant Job Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Play Therapist Assistant to join our team at a vibrant primary school in Kensington.

About the Role
  • Fulfill a full-time permanent position, enhancing students' emotional wellbeing through therapeutic play.
  • Collaborate with SEN staff to create a safe and engaging play environment that encourages exploration, creativity, and emotional expression.
  • Design play activities that meet the unique needs of students, promoting social skills, emotional regulation, and communication.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress during therapeutic activities, providing valuable insights to teaching and support staff.
  • Work closely with therapists and educators to implement specific play-based strategies and interventions aligned with individual education plans (IEPs).
Key Responsibilities
  1. Facilitate therapeutic play sessions for students with emotional and developmental challenges.
  2. Monitor and document student progress during therapeutic activities.
  3. Provide feedback and insights to parents and guardians regarding their child's progress and participation in play therapy sessions.
  4. Engage in training and professional development opportunities focused on play therapy and best practices in supporting children with emotional challenges.
Requirements
  • Prior experience in play therapy, child development, or a related field is beneficial.
  • A creative and patient approach to engaging students in meaningful play activities is essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a genuine passion for working with children with special educational needs.
