Job Summary

NHS Blood and Transplant is a leading organization in the field of blood and transplantation, collecting and processing over 2 million blood donations annually. Our team of Healthcare Scientists plays a crucial role in supporting NHS Hospitals, providing diagnostic and therapeutic services related to blood and stem cell transfusions, transplantation, and tissue banking.

Main Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing, interpreting, and reporting the results of specialist Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics investigations. Your duties will include:

  • Performing and analyzing molecular and serological testing for solid organ and haematopoietic stem cell transplant and immunogenetic services
  • Assisting with quality management issues within the laboratory, under the direction of the Clinical Scientists Section Head and Laboratory Operations Manager
  • Contributing to the coordination and supervision of scientific and support staff
About You

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Biomedical Science, with experience in laboratory equipment and techniques, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office packages. A Health Professions Council registered Biomedical Scientist is required for this role, with a good understanding of Clinical Pathology Accreditation, Good Manufacturing Practice, and British Committee for Standards in Haematology guidelines.
