Are you passionate about emerging automotive technology?

As an Automotive Technology Specialist, you will play a key role in helping the business understand and shape the future of our auto services business.

Reporting to our Motor Technology Specialist, you will be part of a dynamic team at the Direct Line Group Technology Centre in Stechford (Birmingham).

You will work closely with the team, including hands-on projects, and must be based in the Birmingham region.

We are looking for someone with current automotive testing work experience and relevant qualifications.

With a network of body shops across the UK and 90,000 accident damaged vehicles passing through our garages every year, we are bringing together sustainable, advanced tech and compassionate customer service to ensure our services stay ahead of the game.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Test and challenge emerging vehicle technologies to support DLG's ambition to be an industry leader.
  • Engage with partners to promote learning and inform strategic decisions.
  • Work with the Motor Network Technology Specialist and team to build future repair strategies.
  • Perform hands-on experiments to test new technologies and demonstrate impacts to the team.
  • Deliver Insight events to further understanding of advanced technology within DLG.
  • Support the adoption of enabling technology within DLG, including digital solutions.
  • Contribute to the development of training courses and support the implementation of site-by-site technology investments.

Requirements:

  • Willingness to test and challenge established thinking.
  • Background in communicating technical knowledge.
  • Comfortable setting goals and working to complete them.
  • Engineering qualification and industry experience desirable.
  • Experience and understanding of automotive/vehicle technologies.
