Pediatric Nurse Specialist

This role is an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Advanced Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to work in our Paediatric Assessment and Observation Unit (PAOU), providing high-quality care to children and their families.
About the RoleAs an Advanced Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, you will play a lead role in the running of our PAOU, accepting referrals directly from GPs, Midwives, and from the Paediatric Emergency Department. You will be responsible for providing support to sick and critically ill children and young people, supporting nursing and medical staff to care for these patients.
The successful candidate will have significant years of recent relevant experience in acute/community paediatrics, with expertise in recognising and implementing appropriate management to a critically ill child aged from birth to 18 years.
You will have the ability to develop fully staff potential through facilitating training, development, and education initiatives, and work effectively with multidisciplinary/multi-agency teams at a strategic/senior operational level.
Key Responsibilities- Undertake history and physical examination to accurately assess the patient's condition.
- Critically analyse findings to form a diagnosis and develop an appropriate treatment plan.
- Order, interpret, and act upon relevant diagnostic tests and procedures.
- Interpret, convey, and relay complex and conflicting information to MDT members/patients/relatives in possibly stressful situations.
- Act as a clinical expert providing continuous support to the nursing staff and other MDT members within and outside designated area of work.
- Undertake advanced (invasive and non-invasive) procedures pertaining to patient need, in accordance with appropriate training and clinical supervision.
- Prescribe medication in accordance with current legislation and trust policy.
