Senior Clinical Fellow-Senior Health

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Fellow to join our team at Wrightington Wigan & Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialist advice to patients, participating in on-call rotas, and undertaking regular ward rounds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialist advice to patients regarding their illness
- Participate in on-call rotas for emergency general surgery
- Undertake regular ward rounds
- Attend operating theatre and endoscopy sessions
- Work with colleagues to provide effective clinical leadership for all staff in the service
- Contribute to and participate in the development of the service
- Involving in teaching and training, audit and research
Team and Environment: The General Surgery & Urology Directorate is a dynamic and supportive team, working closely with other specialties within the Surgical Division. The post holder will be part of a multidisciplinary team, working together to provide high-quality patient care.
Training and Development: The Trust is committed to providing opportunities for professional development and career progression. The successful candidate will have access to regular training and development opportunities, including teaching and training, audit and research.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure efficient use of resources at all times
- Participate in Induction Programmes as required
- Adhere to all Trust policies and procedures
- Comply with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974
- Participate in the teaching of undergraduate staff and in the professional development of junior medical staff working in the Department
Work Circumstances & On-call: The post holder will be required to work on-call, including weekends, with a current rota of 1 in 12. One session per month at Wigan and Leigh NHS Trust is devoted to audit when all clinical services are suspended.
