Senior Clinical / Forensic / Counselling Psychologist:

Sandwell Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team (CRHTT)

An exciting opportunity has emerged for a Senior Clinical/Forensic/Counselling Psychologist to become a vital part of the Sandwell CRHTT. In this dynamic multidisciplinary team (MDT) setting, you will engage in providing support to individuals facing acute mental health challenges in a manner that prioritizes their safety and well-being. The role of psychology is integral to the operations of the Sandwell CRHTT, and you will be expected to demonstrate your leadership capabilities in conducting psychological evaluations, developing treatment plans, and implementing brief therapeutic interventions.

The CRHTT teams within the organization are at the forefront of innovation, having successfully initiated a pilot program in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). We maintain strong partnerships with local academic institutions that offer clinical, forensic, and counselling psychology programs. Collaborative relationships have also been established with various organizations, linking us to a national network focused on Trauma Interventions in Acute Settings.

As a successful candidate, you will join a collective of urgent care psychologists operating across various acute environments, including CRHTT, inpatient units, mental health liaison services, and Psychiatric Intensive Care Units (PICU). You will receive ongoing supervision and have access to professional development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

In your role within the Sandwell CRHTT, you will collaborate with a team of diverse professionals to assist individuals experiencing mental health crises. Your primary objectives will be to avert unnecessary hospital admissions and facilitate timely discharges. You will conduct assessments, develop treatment formulations, create care plans, and provide short-term interventions for clients presenting with significant risk factors. Additionally, psychology will play a supportive role for team members through regular reflective practice sessions and supervision, which is highly valued by our MDT colleagues.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

Essential

  • Doctoral level training in applied psychology (or equivalent) accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS)
  • Post-doctoral training in specialized areas of psychological practice
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as an Applied Psychologist with Chartered Status
  • Training in clinical supervision and supervision of doctoral trainees
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
  • Experience as a qualified applied psychologist within a mental health service, working with diverse client groups across various clinical settings
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices relevant to addressing complex mental health issues
  • Proficiency in risk assessment and management
