Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Specialty Cardiothoracic Physiotherapist to join our team on a permanent basis at the John Radcliffe Hospital, part of the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will work in close partnership with the Therapy team for the Oxford Critical Care Unit and Churchill Intensive Care unit.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide advanced assessment and treatment for patients with complex needs, offering expert advice, guidance, and information to healthcare professionals, carers, relatives, and other stakeholders.
  • Assume delegated responsibilities for supervising students, junior physiotherapists, and support staff, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Participate in evidence-based projects and contribute to implementing changes within designated teams and settings, monitoring standards of practice.
  • Utilize initiative to enhance the quality, safety, and clinical effectiveness of Therapy services, engaging with colleagues to implement improvements.
  • Deputise for Team lead Physiotherapists or Clinical Lead Physiotherapist for the Adult Critical Care workstream.
  • Pursue formal and informal supervision to ensure continuous professional development.
  • Engage in evidence-based audit and projects to develop and refine personal and team clinical practices.
  • Supervise, assess, and educate students, junior physiotherapists, technical instructors, and support workers.
  • Undertake overnight on-call duties as an autonomous practitioner, working with minimal supervision.
Requirements
  • Broad range of experience at band 5 (or equivalent) including work on ICU, acute medical or surgical wards.
