London, Greater London, United Kingdom London Borough of Camden Full time

Experience a fulfilling career at the London Borough of Camden, a pioneer in sustainable transportation. Our team consistently pushes boundaries to create a cleaner and safer borough, as well as city center.

About Us

We are a leader in innovative transport solutions. Our work includes Green Mobility Hubs, award-winning central London schemes like the West End Project, Healthy School Streets, and progressive parking policies. We also host one of the largest transport-led regeneration projects in Euston, which can deliver thousands of new homes and jobs. Collaborating with partners at TFL, Network Rail, HS2, and others, we aim to achieve transformative outcomes for both the station campus and surrounding communities.

The Role

This role involves helping us deliver our ambitious goals by managing neighbourhood-based Healthy Streets projects across the Euston-King's Cross corridor and providing transport input on strategic planning initiatives in the Euston Station Masterplan area. The position is initially limited to 2 years, with potential extensions subject to funding availability.

You will be responsible for project managing multiple 'Healthy Streets' projects focused on localised road safety, bus priority, walking, cycling, traffic reduction, and public realm improvement. Delivering Healthy Streets measures identified through the time-limited HS2 Road Safety Fund will be a key focus. You will also support the Principal Transport Planner in developing complex, area-wide, low-traffic 'Safe & Healthy Streets' projects in Euston and King's Cross.

Your responsibilities will include project planning, feasibility studies, optioneering, community engagement, report writing, stakeholder management, monitoring, budgeting, and financial controls. Innovative thinking about how Healthy Streets projects can support wider improvements to our public realm and the climate emergency will be essential. This may involve introducing 'parklets', urban greening, or other initiatives.

Requirements
  • Project management experience, delivering Healthy Streets transport infrastructure projects on time and to budget
  • Understanding of healthy streets and strategic transport planning projects, including experience with planning applications and working in teams on complex projects
  • Strong partnership working skills and ability to develop effective stakeholder relations on transport matters
  • Capacity to communicate clearly and sensitively in community engagement activities and with elected members
  • Ability to oversee the workload of junior team members and consultants, understanding their operation
  • Strong analytical and report writing skills
  • Understanding of corporate policies and strategies
  • Degree level education (or equivalent) in a relevant subject or equivalent experience in transport planning

Join our team and contribute to redefining how we support people, while redefining what a career can be. At Camden, you'll enjoy a range of benefits and join a flexible working employer.
