Key Responsibilities:
* Serve as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for the college, ensuring that all safeguarding procedures are effectively implemented.
* Act as the first point of contact for safeguarding concerns, providing timely and effective support to students, staff, and external agencies.
* Manage safeguarding cases, working closely with local authorities, police, and social services as needed.
* Lead on the development and implementation of safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with statutory guidelines.
* Provide guidance and training to staff on safeguarding and child protection matters, creating a culture of vigilance.
* Maintain accurate records of safeguarding concerns and actions taken, ensuring all documentation is up to date and confidential.
* Stay informed on best practices and legislation in safeguarding, ensuring the college's procedures remain current and effective.
Requirements:
* Experience in a safeguarding role, ideally within an education setting.
* Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and procedures, including Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE).
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations with care and professionalism.
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, showing leadership in safeguarding issues.
* A commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion within the college community.
* Enhanced DBS clearance.
Desirable:
* Level 3 or above qualification in safeguarding or child protection.
* Previous experience in a college or secondary school setting.
* Experience in delivering safeguarding training.
