Job Overview:

A Radiologist with a focus on Breast Imaging is sought to join the Medical Imaging and Medical Physics Directorate of the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This fixed-term position is based at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield and will support the Breast Service in meeting its needs for symptomatic and screening services.

The successful candidate will join a team of Breast Radiologists, working alongside 46 NHS radiologists within the Directorate. The role offers flexibility in on-call commitments, with a current rota of 1 in 14, and the opportunity to develop skills in interventional diagnostic procedures.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Providing a comprehensive Breast Imaging service to the Trust
  • Supporting the Sheffield Breast Screening Service, the Breast Clinic, and general radiology activity across the Trust
  • Working flexibly and cooperatively with other team members to provide high-quality services
  • Covering colleagues during periods of absence and maintaining responsibility for patients in their care

Person Specification:

  • Registered with the GMC with a licence to practise and FRCR or equivalent qualifications
  • Experience in performing clinical audit and evidence of participation in radiology reporting discrepancy meetings
  • Good written communication skills and ability to critically assess published research
  • Willingness to acquire/improve clinical skills & knowledge in Breast Imaging and lead on quality improvement projects
