We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Pharmacist to join our team in Adult Mental Health, Addictions, and Learning Disabilities. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting the management of adult patients with mental health disorders in primary and secondary care throughout NHS Ayrshire and Arran.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert pharmaceutical mental health advice and contribute to the development and improvement of pharmaceutical services for patients with mental health disorders and learning disabilities.
  • Lead and provide clinical pharmacy services to identified areas within secondary care that support mental health, addictions, and learning disabilities.
  • Work closely with primary care teams to identify and prioritize key prescribing indicators around the mental health agenda, developing and participating in plans to address areas of concern.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a highly specialized level of clinical pharmacy knowledge, and experience in service development. Strong leadership skills, a passion for driving change, and a commitment to delivering time-critical work are essential. The post-holder must be able to demonstrate high-level negotiating skills, adapt quickly, and work effectively as part of a team or autonomously.

Requirements include a Master's degree in Pharmacy or equivalent, postgraduate qualification to Diploma level in Clinical Pharmacy, and a Practice Certificate in Pharmacist Independent Prescribing. Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council, including evidence of Continuing Professional Development, is also required.

Working Arrangements

This is a permanent position, working 37 hours per week (1 WTE). You will participate in weekend and public holiday shifts as required. In accordance with AFC terms and conditions, you may be required to work over 7 days and/or an extended working day. A driving license and car ownership are essential for this role.
