About the Role

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for leading a team of engineers and contractors in the maintenance and operation of the fuel processing and auxiliary plant systems at Drax Power Station. The successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering and experience in project management, with a focus on plant integrity and cost reduction.

The role will involve:

  • Leading a team of engineers and contractors in the maintenance and operation of the fuel processing and auxiliary plant systems
  • Developing and implementing engineering and maintenance strategies to minimize costs and ensure plant integrity
  • Managing contracts and supervising contractor work, including setting technical specifications and risk assessments
  • Overseeing the effective preparation and implementation of preventative, breakdown, and outage defects, schedules, and work packages
  • Delivering compliance against legislative, statutory, corporate, and site policy and procedures in relation to Health, Safety, and the Environment, Engineering, and Quality requirements
About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in project management and plant integrity. The successful candidate will have:

  • A minimum of an HND in an Engineering-related discipline, ideally holding a Bachelor's degree and a member of a Professional Engineering Institution
  • Experience delivering key engineering projects in operational areas such as milling plant, pneumatic conveying, pumps, gas and steam systems, turbomachinery, fuel oil systems, cranes, and fire systems
  • Ability to lead and support projects through lifecycle, including justification, scoping, design, implementation, and commissioning
  • Previous experience in managing budgets and leading people and/or managing contractors
  • Confidence in leading people and/or managing contractors and objectively managing the performance of a team to achieve required results
