Bradford, Bradford, United Kingdom Turning Point Full time
About the Role

At Turning Point, we support people with Learning Disabilities across England. As a Support Worker, you will make a real difference to residents' lives as you support them to lead fulfilling lives. Passionate about people, you will enjoy the scope and support to enhance your own life and career too, as you gain the experience and training you need to progress with us.

Key Responsibilities

As a Support Worker, you will be supporting individuals with a range of needs, including behaviour support, complex health care and personal intimate support. You will also support individuals to be part of the community, including regular outings and annual holidays. We aim to create positive family and professional relationships, offering a good circle of support. Our services focus on supporting individuals' lives in a person-centred way, promoting choice, demonstrating respect, and maintaining health. We tailor our services to enable people to be as independent as possible.

Training and Development

We offer training to all those who want to develop their skills and competencies, not just in the care sector but in other areas too. Our training programmes include Level 2 and 3 Lead Adult Care Worker and Level 3 Operational Team Leader. Once you begin your training with us, you will have your own coach who will support you through your programme. Please note that training will be offered after your probation period ends, which is 6 months.

Shift Patterns

This is a 24-hour service, therefore flexibility is essential. You will be working a range of shifts from 7:00am to 2:30pm and 2:00pm to 9:30pm, waking nights, and some weekends. Please note that working hours may vary.

Role Requirements

This is a hands-on job in which no two days are the same. Your duties will include: promoting the independence of people we support, supporting a full range of daily activities, including personal intimate care, support with eating and drinking, and involvement in the day-to-day activities in the home. You will also be responsible for managing epilepsy, suction support, stoma care, cough assist and chest physiotherapy, catheter care, following health professionals' guidance and protocols, supporting individuals to stay safe using positive risk assessments, manual handling, supporting people with medication, and ensuring record keeping is maintained to the required standard at all times. You will also contribute to service monitoring requirements using a digital recording system.

About Us

We are a leading health and social care provider with more than 300 locations across England. We take real pride in the services we offer. We run all of our services on a not-for-profit basis, investing every penny back into our services and people. We never stop believing in change for the better, and we work constantly to improve the lives of the people we support.
