Your Role

You will support the External Affairs function in delivering the NCSC's strategy, aligned with our communications and organisational objectives. This includes:

  • Collaborating with the Head of External Affairs to develop and implement effective external affairs strategies that engage government, public and private sector stakeholders.
  • Writing agenda-setting speeches for the CEO and senior representatives, working closely with internal stakeholders to ensure messaging aligns with our strategic priorities.
  • BUILDING AND MAINTAINING EFFECTIVE RELATIONSHIPS WITH KEY ORGANISATIONS AND TEAMS TO SUPPORT OUR OBJECTIVES.
  • Contributing to stakeholder mapping and developing two-way engagement plans for each group.
  • Researching and reporting on opportunities and risks for our relationships with key external stakeholders.
  • Assisting in evaluating activities against the External Affairs Strategy and preparing reports, lessons learned and learning tools for improved delivery.
  • Gathering regular feedback from stakeholders through various channels.
  • Supporting the production of briefings, events and other communications material to promote better understanding of key issues and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Speech Writing

  • Demonstrating exceptional oral and written communication skills to convey the bigger picture on national and international cyber security issues.
  • Staying informed of emerging trends and issues impacting or benefiting our work, relevant to high-profile speeches.

External Affairs

  • Developing effective communications strategies, including stakeholder mapping and insight gathering.
  • Maintaining working-level relationships with stakeholders from diverse sectors.
  • Building policy-specific knowledge to effectively understand stakeholder development opportunities.
  • Assisting in producing high-quality presentations, speaking notes and briefing materials for high-profile speakers.
  • Championing best practice stakeholder engagement.
  • Collaborating across digital content, media, guidance and events teams to ensure alignment and seek deconfliction where needed.

About You

We're looking for an experienced professional who can bring excellent communication and interpersonal skills to this role. You'll have a proven track record in speechwriting, stakeholder engagement and communications. Your interest in politics and the work of GCHQ/NCSC is essential.

Competencies

What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary of £57,287 per annum, plus a £6,250 London Allowance. Our benefits package includes 25 days annual leave, flexible working options, employee performance scheme, interest-free season ticket loan, cycle to work scheme, facilities like a gym and restaurant, paid parental and adoption leave, and an excellent pension scheme with an average employer contribution of 27%.
