Job DescriptionAbout the Role

We are seeking a skilled Financial Wellbeing Advisor to join our team at Catch22. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of financial issues and their impact on individuals, particularly those within the Criminal Justice System.

As a Financial Wellbeing Advisor, you will work closely with service users to understand their financial needs and develop tailored action plans to support their rehabilitation. This will include helping them to claim benefits, access financial services, and manage their debt.

You will also be responsible for building relationships with stakeholders, including local agencies and organisations, to provide support to service users. Additionally, you will demonstrate proactivity in researching services that create opportunities to build a wider support network for service users.

About You

We are looking for an exceptional candidate who is well-organised, process-driven, and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write compelling narratives and present engagingly. A good relationship builder with strong interpersonal skills is essential.

You will also have experience of working within the Criminal Justice System, offenders, and/or disadvantaged people, and a good understanding of how financial issues can impact on re-offending. Confidence to incorporate wellbeing strategies within the role is also required, to promote emotional resilience and healthy coping mechanisms to support service users' progress.

Main Duties and Accountabilities
  • Undertake structured assessments to understand the specific finance, benefit, and debt (FBD) needs of the service user.
  • Support service users to claim the correct benefits, gain access to relevant entitlements, and manage under/overpayments.
  • Help service users to access banking and financial services, to meet FBD needs, through supporting service users to develop online banking skills.
  • Sign-post service users to relevant agencies/organisations that will support them with their FBD needs.
  • Ensure brilliant solutions come together through the interplay of the FBD team and working closely with FCA Specialist advisors.
  • Demonstrate proactivity, researching services that create opportunities to build a wider support network for service users.
Qualifications and Knowledge
  • Good basic education, including Maths and English GCSE, or equivalent.
  • Skills and experience working with Microsoft Office suite: Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
  • Evidence of continual professional development.
  • Desirable: Any qualification relevant to working with those in the Criminal Justice System.
  • Experience of working within the Criminal Justice System, offenders, and/or disadvantaged people.
  • Knowledge of how financial issues can impact on re-offending.
