Design Engineer Vacancy

At Wright Engineering, we are seeking an Experienced Design Engineer to support our Workshop Production team on a full-time permanent basis.

The successful candidate will deliver projects on the repair, replacement, design, and installation of equipment and full plant systems for aggregates and recycling sectors industries throughout the UK.

The role will involve overseeing design aspects of projects from site measurements to ordering materials and parts, producing General Arrangements (GAs) and fabrication drawings. The candidate will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with client specifications, scope of works, and current regulatory standards.

  1. Lead the design aspects of projects from site measurement to ordering materials and parts.
  2. Ensure compliance with client specification, scope of works, and current regulatory standards.
  3. Develop design deliverables.
  4. Consider project health and safety, quality, and environmental matters throughout the construction process.
  5. Liaise with all key stakeholders for the projects.
  6. Take responsibility as Design Lead on allocated projects.

Requirements:

  1. Auto CAD experience.
  2. Proficient in SolidWorks and PDM or Inventor.
  3. Experience on heavy construction or bulk handling sites, i.e., aggregates or recycling, including knowledge of CDM regulations and relevant design standards.
  4. Experience taking accurate site measurements for large projects at ground level and in and around all levels of existing structures using suitable access equipment.
  5. Ability to transfer Auto CAD to 3D models.
  6. Competent working with large assemblies.
  7. Degree/HND/HNC in Engineering or equivalent.
  8. Knowledge of British and European design standards.
  9. Proven track record as a Design Engineer in either design office and in a construction environment.
  10. Full UK Clean Driving Licence.

Terms and conditions: The successful candidate will work a standard 40-hour week, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekends. Potential to work remotely with 1-2 days a week at Head Office. You will be on call to customers and fitters during project installations. Travelling to job sites will be required on occasion. A competitive rate of pay will be offered, depending on experience.
