Bridge Operator – Dillwyn Bridge Crew

We are seeking a skilled Bridge Operator to join our team at the Dillwyn section. As a key member of our crew, you will be responsible for repairing, maintaining, and replacing bridges and structures in accordance with established safety standards, VDOT specifications, and equipment operation standards.
Key Responsibilities- Perform heavy manual labor and operate light and medium-duty equipment
- Knowledge of highway and bridge maintenance methods, equipment, materials, and safety practices
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations to measure and lay out constructed elements on bridges and culverts
- Obtain CDL and DOT medical card within 11 months of employment and maintain thereafter
- Perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance on equipment and tools
- Experience in carpentry, building forms, and concrete placement and finishing
- Valid Certified Crane Operator with appropriate endorsements
- Ability to work at heights, over and, or in water, in heavy traffic, and under other adverse conditions
- Valid Commercial Drivers License with appropriate endorsements
- Flagger
We provide a comprehensive compensation and benefits package, including a $3,000 sign-on bonus for qualified candidates who have a current CDL. We are an emergency response agency, and you will work outside of normal work hours during emergency operations when services are needed.
