Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our dynamic Adult Acute Inpatient Speech and Language Therapy team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients with complex swallowing and communication disorders, working collaboratively with other healthcare staff to optimize patient safety and outcomes.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established and innovative Speech and Language Therapy service, comprising over 40 SLTs. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their skills and expertise in a supportive and flexible environment.

The role will involve working across multiple hospital sites, including Leeds General Infirmary, St James's University Hospital, and Chapel Allerton Hospitals, providing speech and language therapy input to patients with a wide range of conditions, including neurosciences, ENT, oncology, and respiratory medicine.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Perform comprehensive communication and swallowing assessments on patients with complex neurological and psychological conditions.
  2. Develop and deliver individualized treatment programs to maximize patient outcomes.
  3. Work collaboratively with other healthcare staff to optimize patient safety and outcomes.
  4. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of patient care plans.
Person Specification

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Speech and Language Therapist who possesses the following qualities:

  • Significant postgraduate clinical experience in speech and language therapy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of current speech and language therapy practices and evidence-based interventions.

The successful candidate will be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and hold a degree in Speech and Language Therapy or a related field.
