About the Role

Cumberland Council is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our Learning Support Service (LSS) team as a Teaching Assistant. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children's education and well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality learning and skills support to children, ensuring their individual needs are met.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Personal Care programmes.
  • Establish positive relationships with children, promoting their inclusion and acceptance within the classroom.
  • Assist with supervising and supporting children during lessons, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.
  • Provide feedback to children on their progress and achievement, under the guidance of the teacher.
Requirements
  • Recent experience of working with children in an educational setting, preferably in a classroom environment.
  • Awareness of practices and procedures within education relating to the welfare, safety, and education of children.
  • Basic understanding of child development and learning, including the Early Years Foundation Stage and National Curriculum.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, communicating with colleagues and children to achieve shared goals.
  • Desirable to have knowledge of other services to young people and experience of using ICT to support learning.
