Overview
Maintaining a 175-acre cemetery in Cambridge and Watertown, MA, requires skilled professionals to oversee its grounds, horticulture, and recycling operations. As an Arboriculture Operations Manager at Mount Auburn Cemetery, you will play a critical role in ensuring the cemetery's beauty and integrity while providing exceptional service to visitors.

Job Description
This leadership position involves managing multiple teams responsible for maintaining the cemetery's extensive tree collection, turf, and grounds. You will prioritize staff and equipment usage, supervise team members, and collaborate with the Vice President of Horticulture & Landscape to set goals and budgets. Your expertise in arboriculture and horticulture will be essential in ensuring the cemetery's arboretum status and sustainable practices.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily work assignments and project management for teams including arboriculture, turf/grounds, garage, and recycling.
  • Supervise full-time, seasonal, and intern employees, focusing on staff safety, evaluations, hiring, training, and professional development.
  • Collaborate with the Vice President of Horticulture & Landscape to prepare annual operating budgets and set short-term and long-term priorities.
  • Lead snow removal operations, manage horticulture contractors, and serve as liaison between departments.
