About the Role

New Directions Holding is currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Support Worker to join our team in the Bridgend area. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting children with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) in a school setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support to children with ALN, promoting their social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, teaching assistants, and other support staff to develop and implement personalized learning plans.
  • Assist children with daily living tasks, such as personal care, mealtime support, and mobility.
  • Support children with behavioral challenges, using positive behavior management techniques and strategies.
  • Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues to ensure a smooth and supportive learning environment.
Requirements
  • Experience working with children with ALN, preferably in a school setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work with children of varying ages and abilities.
  • Basic knowledge of child development and learning theories.
Desirable Attributes
  • A 'can do' attitude and a willingness to learn and adapt.
  • Empathy and understanding when working with children with complex needs.
  • Flexibility to work with both primary and secondary age children.
  • Availability to work Monday to Friday, during term time.
