Inventory Management and Transport Coordination

About the Roles

We are currently seeking an Inventory Control Specialist and Transport Coordinator to work within our Production and Workshop Centre teams based in Christchurch. Reporting to Senior Management, the Inventory Control Specialist and Transport Coordinator will be responsible for leading, organising, and controlling stock security/dispatch with an emphasis on protecting and tracking the company's goods.

The primary focus of this position is to maintain inventory control/tracking systems efficiently so that stock movements and holdings can be accurately reconciled and stock discrepancies kept to a minimum. The Inventory Control Specialist and Transport Coordinator will work closely with the Project and Site Managers as well as with the Production department.

These are full-time roles of up to 50 hours per week, with 90% office-based and 10% coordinating with the yardman and supervisors checking steel in and out with software processes and quality assurance.

  • Monitors and maintains current inventory levels, tracks orders, tracks dispatch, and investigates problems through Strumis Software. Training can be provided.
  • Developing and implementing inventory control systems and practices.
  • Coordinating the logistics of purchase orders with the procurement manager, stock transfers, deliveries, tagging, and processing.
  • Maintaining and updating records of purchase orders and inventory records.
  • Assist with capacity planning and the coordination of stock/material transfers between locations to ensure stock is in the correct places ahead of time.
  • Previous inventory/transport management experience in a construction or production environment is desirable but not essential.
  • Transport Co-Ordination experience.
  • Valid Forklift License would be advantageous; if not, training can be provided.
  • Ability to work under tight timescales and pressure whilst maintaining attention to detail and quality.
  • Possess relevant computer skills in MS Office applications.
