Job Summary
This is a full-time substantive Consultant post with 10 programmed activities per week at East Cheshire NHS Trust.
The post holder will be part of the Planned Care Directorate and is expected to have general ophthalmology experience and be fully competent in phacoemulsification - cataract surgery.
Key responsibilities include:
- Active involvement and leadership in management and decision-making of complex ophthalmic cases.
- Availability during working hours for medical and nursing staff to communicate and consult freely.
- Closely liaising with Operational Line Managers and the Clinical Lead to ensure waiting list targets and associated standards are achieved.
- Ensuring management plans are clearly displayed in patient notes with complex needs.
About the Role
The post holder will take a share of Consultant Clinical responsibilities within the department, including leadership in management and decision-making of complex ophthalmic cases.

NHS Medical and Dental salaries are set at a national level. New starters will be appointed to the minimum paypoint, with the potential to increase paypoints based on relevant experience.
