Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Specialist Hand Therapist to join our dynamic and well-established multi-disciplinary team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing a clinical caseload of patients with traumatic and elective hand and upper limb injuries, as well as assessing and managing patients with non-surgical conditions referred from the community.

Main Duties

  • Perform advanced musculo-skeletal assessments of plastic surgery/hand patients, including those with highly complex presentations, and formulate a diagnosis and treatment plan as an autonomous practitioner.
  • Take a lead role in the supervision, teaching, and appraisal of senior, junior, and assistant physiotherapists/occupational therapists, physiotherapy/OT students, and other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • As team leader, be responsible for operational management and overall development of the designated team, especially in regard to all aspects of clinical governance, and deputise for the service manager as required.
  • Supervise, initiate, and participate in evidence-based projects and be responsible for implementing changes within the designated team/area and setting and monitoring standards of practice.
