Job Summary

Join Wiltshire Council in supporting the resettlement of refugees and migrants through our Refugee Resettlement and Migration Service. As a Casework Support Officer, you will play a vital role in aiding families and individuals to settle in Wiltshire, prioritizing access to public services and supporting them towards independence and integration.

Main Duties

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the delivery of resettlement programmes in Wiltshire, ensuring outcomes align with the Council's Business Plan.
  • Working with the Council and other public services to deliver outcomes for resettlement programmes in accordance with Home Office guidelines, including signposting families and supporting access to services such as ESOL classes, nursery provision, and job centers.
  • Assessing individual and family requirements, providing accurate and reliable information, and escalating issues as necessary.
  • Collaborating with other Casework Support Officers to ensure adequate support is available to refugees during office hours.
  • Developing and maintaining support plans and case notes for each individual and family, ensuring accurate and relevant information is provided.
  • Providing advice and guidance to refugees on accessing employment opportunities, cultural issues, and council working practices.
  • Expanding knowledge and understanding of the needs of refugees and migrant populations, supporting interfaith activity, and cascading knowledge and skills to team members and volunteers.

Person Specification

Essential qualifications and experience include:

  • Education to HNC in English or Humanities or equivalent experience.
  • Good understanding of public services and the experience of new arrivals in the UK.
  • Good understanding of health and social care contexts and processes for making referrals.
  • Experience in following policies and procedures.
  • Experience in contributing to and maintaining records.
  • Experience of coordinating or working alongside other volunteers.
  • Experience of liaising with external stakeholders to shape the delivery of their services in accordance with ethnic minority culture requirements.

Desirable qualifications and experience include:

  • Experience in project and programme management.
  • Experience of risk management principles and case conference working.
