Our client is seeking an experienced Electrical Distribution Equipment Specialist to join their team in a high-voltage commissioning role.

About the Role:

This is a challenging and exciting opportunity for a skilled professional to work on various electrical distribution equipment installations, maintenance, and commissioning projects. As an Electrical Distribution Equipment Specialist, you will be responsible for supervising and performing activities related to switchgear, transformers, and associated equipment between 400v - 33kv voltage ranges.

  • Off-loading new panels, switchgear, and transformers
  • Installation of new panels
  • Commissioning of electrical equipment
  • Planned maintenance from visual to intrusive across the product range
  • Partial discharge testing, thermal imaging, oil sampling, systems testing, and fault diagnosis
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Work independently and as part of a team at UK, overseas, and offshore locations
  2. Supervise personnel onsite, including team members and sub-contractors
  3. Liaise with installation/project managers
  4. Promote company service activities and identify business opportunities
  5. Participate in the OnCall rota system for emergency support to customers 24/7
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of switchgear and associated plant
  • Customer-focused approach with a 'service' disposition
  • Willingness to work at nuclear, military, and offshore locations
  • Hold a full driving license
  • Good understanding of electrical safety principles and live HV networks
  • Academic qualifications relevant to the role
  • Experience in high-voltage testing (415v - 33kv systems), CT magnetisation curves, and CT primary injection
  • Control circuit wiring testing and modification and mechanical/electrical function testing of 415v - 33kv switchboards and networks
