Main Responsibilities:

To assist the Head Chef in delivering a high-quality catering service to residents, guests, and visitors at the care home. This includes preparing, cooking, and presenting meals, as well as maintaining a safe and clean kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in meal preparation, cooking, and presentation to ensure a high standard of quality and presentation.
  • Regularly check the dining room layout to ensure a welcoming atmosphere and fully laid tables in line with company standards.
  • Provide regular interaction with residents to gain feedback on the food service and make necessary changes.
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness in the kitchen at all times.
  • Ensure all meals are planned and cooked in line with planned menus.
  • Cater for specialist dietary requirements of residents.
  • Manage and lead the team responsible for food preparation and service.
  • Collect feedback from residents and relatives and reflect this in menus and food offerings.

Stock Control:

  • Work with the Head Chef to ensure the food budget is adhered to and assist in ordering supplies from nominated and approved suppliers.
  • Keep stock secure at all times, store appropriately, and avoid unnecessary wastage and deterioration of foodstuffs.
  • Ensure equipment is used appropriately and for its designed use, reporting defects to the Head Chef and withdrawing from use immediately.

Training:

  • Ensure mandatory training is kept up to date and attend additional training provided.

General:

  • Be aware of and comply with all company rules, policies, and procedures, including statutory requirements.
  • Take an active part in the company's Champion role system and carry out tasks relevant to this system.
  • Show courtesy and respect to residents and relatives, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • Greet visitors in a friendly, courteous, and efficient manner, promoting the company positively in the local community.
  • Maintain good working relationships with all colleagues, residents, and relatives at all times.
