Shannon Trust is a leading organisation addressing low literacy levels amongst people in prison.

This role will lead the delivery and development of our prison-based reading and numeracy programme at HMP Swinfen Hall, working closely with the prison and their staff, people in prison, volunteers and mentors. The ideal candidate will have experience of prison settings and be able to build relationships with a resilient and determined approach.

The salary for this role is approximately £16,550 per annum (£27,584 FTE), which includes 21 hours of work per week. Additionally, the employee benefits include a company contribution to pension scheme of up to 5%, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays, life insurance, paid volunteering days, discounts via Reward Gateway and an Employee Assistance Programme.

As a Reader Development Specialist at Shannon Trust, you will play a crucial role in maximising opportunities for people in prison to learn to read. You will be responsible for delivering and developing our prison-based reading and numeracy programme, working closely with the prison and their staff, people in prison, volunteers and mentors.
