Crime Solicitor and Department Head

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Crime Solicitor to lead our team in West or Central London.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Board and Head of Department to drive the success of the team.
  • Oversee the running of the Branch Office and manage staff working from it.
  • Manage and oversee complex Crime matters, providing technical expertise and guidance to team members.
  • Supervise Solicitors, Trainee Solicitors, and Caseworkers to manage appropriate caseload types and complexities.
  • Assist with delivery of training and development in the department.
  • Deal with a full range of Criminal Defence cases, including Private and Legal Aid matters.
  • Manage complex and sensitive cases, liaising with the CPS and courts, preparing statements, and collating evidence.
  • Represent clients detained at the police station, conduct advocacy in the Magistrates Court and Crown Court, and attend to clients both in and outside of office hours.

Key Skills:

  • Duty and Police Station Accredited.
  • Higher rights of advocacy qualification (ideally).
  • Committed and highly driven.
  • Valid Practicing Certificate at the time of applying.
  • Strong management skills.
  • Committed team player and adapt well to new challenges.
  • Previous supervisory experience will be an advantage.
  • Professional with a pro-active approach, excellent client care skills, and ability to deal with vulnerable client matters in a sensitive manner.
  • Excellent networking and communication skills with the ability to successfully market the Company and generate new business.
