PMLD Teaching Assistant Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate PMLD Teaching Assistant to join our team at Protocol Education. As a PMLD Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities in a caring and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized support to students with PMLD, ensuring their physical, emotional, and educational needs are met.
  • Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering personalized learning activities.
  • Support students with personal care tasks, including feeding, toileting, and mobility.
  • Monitor and document students' progress and collaborate with the SENCO and teaching staff.
  • Work closely with other professionals, including therapists and medical staff, to provide holistic support for students.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with children or young people with PMLD.
  • A compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 3, NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to undertake further training as required.
