Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Location: Flexible, term time only

Job Type: Long-term or permanent

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support learners with diverse special educational needs in Totnes and the surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to deliver targeted interventions for core subjects and help students achieve their personal and academic goals
  • Lead classes during PPA cover, ensuring continuity of learning
  • Work closely with students with special educational needs, adapting teaching strategies to meet individual needs
  • Build strong, positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers

Requirements:

  • A genuine passion for working with young people, especially those with special educational needs
  • Ability to engage and inspire students in their learning
  • Experience working within education and a solid understanding of SEN strategies and support
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond to student needs and classroom dynamics
