Job Title: Salaried General Practitioner

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Salaried General Practitioner to join our team at Somerset Gardens Family Health Care Centre.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a caseload and providing high-quality patient care in a primary care setting. They will work closely with our team to ensure the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations, and visiting patients at home.
  • Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems.
  • Assess the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
  • Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
  • Develop care plans for patients in consultation with them and in line with current Practice disease management protocols.
  • Provide counselling and health education to patients.
  • Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
  • Collect data for audit purposes.
  • Prescribe in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.
Other Responsibilities:
  • Awareness of and compliance with all relevant Practice policies/guidelines, prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety.
  • A commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice.
  • Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation.
  • Contributing to the development of computer-based patient records.
  • Attending training and events organised by the Practice or other agencies, where appropriate.
Person Specification:

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Leadership qualities.
  • Team player.
  • Interest in bigger picture of General Practice PCT and PBC.

Essential qualifications include a Medical Degree and MRCGP. Desirable qualifications include a Post Graduate qualification in additional GPWSI.

Experience of managing and maintaining high standards of clinical care is essential. Additional years of clinical experience, Rheumatology, and Minor Surgery are desirable.

The ideal candidate will have effective communication skills, IT literacy, and the ability to interpret and embrace imposed change in a positive way.
