Job Title: Assistant Head of Department Multi-Skills

We are seeking an experienced and skilled professional to join our team as an Assistant Head of Department for Multi-Skills and Trowel Trades. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Head of Department in overseeing and enhancing the curriculum for Study Programmes, Apprenticeships, and Adult courses.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing day-to-day support to the Multi-Skills and Trowel Trades teams.
  • Assisting with timetabling of courses across the Department with a student-centred approach.
  • Chairing course team meetings and documenting meeting minutes.
  • Developing and implementing a teaching support cover rota for the Department.
  • Supporting, developing, and embedding a collaborative approach to planning, preparation, and adaptation of resources to ensure that all students reach their full potential in every learning environment.
  • Embedding English and Maths throughout the curriculum and at the centre of all study programmes.
  • Monitoring and acting upon poor attendance, punctuality, and behaviour in line with college processes and procedures, and to ensure that area and College targets are met.
  • Ensuring an outstanding student experience and excellent outcomes and progression.
  • Developing industry contacts to ensure currency of curriculum content and providing work experience opportunities.
Requirements:
  • Must hold a Level 5 or above teaching qualification such as DET, DTLLS, or Cert Ed/PGCE.
  • A Construction qualification relating to the curriculum area.
  • Must hold or be working towards an IQA Award or equivalent.

This role is based in Cambridge, with local motorway routes nearby. Parking will be available on site.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
