Trainee Forensic Psychologist Job:

About the Role:

  • Work in our male forensic services, providing specialist assessment and treatment for service users who have been detained under the Mental Health Act (1983, amended 2007) and have a history of offending behaviour.
  • Conduct assessments and facilitate group and individual therapeutic sessions across the male services.
  • Support and contribute to risk assessments, collection and analysis of data, and represent Psychology in multi-disciplinary clinical meetings.

Responsibilities and Requirements:

  1. Carry out individual and group psychological interventions, including assessing and developing formulations.
  2. Undertake collaborative risk assessment and management for individual patients.
  3. Undertake psychological assessments and their write-up using appropriate psychometric measures, direct and indirect observations, and semi-structured interviews, under appropriate supervision.
  4. Attend relevant meetings to contribute to the planning and development of service improvements.
  5. Manage and maintain databases.
  6. Assist with audits and research projects where required.
  7. Attend reflective practice sessions.
  8. Support qualified members of staff within the service on a day-to-day basis.
  9. Maintain highest standards of clinical governance, ethical practice, and data protection.
  • A BPS accredited recognised Masters degree in Psychology conferring Graduate Basis for Registration (GBR).
  • Previous experience within clinical and/or forensic settings.
  • Clear professional goals for development.
  • A willingness to meet professional practice expectations and the regulatory body codes of ethics.
