Job Title: Lead Java Developer

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Lead Java Developer to join our team at Vertus Partners, a leading hedge fund specializing in market connectivity. As a key member of our technology team, you will be responsible for leading the development and optimization of our low-latency trading platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain high-performance Java-based trading systems, focusing on market connectivity and data feeds.
  • Implement and support FIX protocol messaging for order routing, execution, and post-trade processes.
  • Collaborate with traders, quants, and other developers to gather requirements and provide technical solutions.
  • Work on high-throughput systems to ensure optimal performance in trading activities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to market connectivity and trading systems.
  • Continuously improve and refactor code to maintain high standards of performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends in financial technology and trading systems.

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of FIX protocol and its application in trading environments.
  • Excellent knowledge of Equity Derivatives.
  • Experience with low-latency, high-frequency trading systems and market data feeds.
  • Solid understanding of multi-threading, concurrency, and memory management in Java.
  • Familiarity with message-driven architectures and middleware technologies (e.g., JMS, Kafka).
  • Proficient with version control systems, build tools, and continuous integration (e.g., Git, Maven, Jenkins).
  • Experience with SQL and database technologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with other financial protocols (e.g., FAST, FIXML) and trading platforms.
  • Knowledge of market structure, order types, and trading algorithms.
