Job Title: English Teacher - PRU / SEMH School

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate English Teacher to join our team at a leading specialist Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) that specializes in supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching and Learning: Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons to support students with English GCSE studies, while addressing the social, emotional, and mental health needs of students with SEMH difficulties.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Collaborate with the school's multidisciplinary team, including therapists and support staff, to create individualized education plans (IEPs) and provide holistic support to students.
  • Differentiation and Adaptation: Differentiate instruction and adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse learning needs and abilities of students with SEMH difficulties.
  • Classroom Environment: Foster a positive and nurturing learning environment where students feel safe, supported, and valued.
  • Progress Monitoring: Monitor and track students' progress, providing regular feedback to students, parents, and carers.
  • Professional Development: Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in SEMH education.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)/ NQT
  • Skills and Experience: Strong understanding of social, emotional, and mental health difficulties, ability to create a nurturing and supportive learning environment, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, flexibility, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting the social, emotional, and academic development of students with SEMH needs.
