About the Opportunity

The Nationalmuseums, in partnership with the Leeds Art Gallery and the Henry Moore Institute, are offering a unique training experience for a Curatorial Assistant - Sculpture Development. This 22-month fixed-term position aims to promote diversity in curatorial staff recruitment.

As a trainee, you will spend 16 months at the Nationalmuseums South Kensington, developing your skills in collections care, research, display, and interpretation. Your focus will be on contemporary sculpture development, display, and interpretation, as well as building core museum collections management experience.

You will also spend 6 months at the Leeds Art Gallery, working with the team there and the Henry Moore Institute as part of their longstanding partnership. You may be involved in projects related to Yorkshire Sculpture International at Leeds Art Gallery and/or the Henry Moore Institute.

Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and implement strategies for contemporary sculpture display and interpretation.
  2. Build and maintain relationships with colleagues and partners at the Nationalmuseums, Leeds Art Gallery, and the Henry Moore Institute.
  3. Contribute to the development of exhibitions and programs.

Salary: £28,000 - £32,000 per annum, depending on experience.
