Job Title: Operations Engineer

About the Role

The Operations Engineer is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of power generation plants. This includes monitoring and controlling plant operations, responding to alarms, and performing maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and control plant operations, including shutdown and start-up procedures
  • Respond to alarms and take appropriate actions
  • Perform maintenance activities, including BOA activity and National Grid instructions
  • Ensure compliance with O&M procedures, work plans, and engineering procedures
  • Execute plant shutdown and start-up procedures as required
  • Adhere to processes and procedures to enable efficient plant operation
  • Liaise with customer and external parties for supply and distribution of power and gas
  • Respond to National Grid and Trader routine and safety instructions
  • Submit REMIT, EDL & EDT information to accurately reflect technical availability

Requirements:

  • Sound practical engineering and technical knowledge
  • Power Generation / Heavy Industry operational experience
  • Awareness and understanding of Health and Safety practices
  • Self-motivated with ability to effectively prioritise workload
  • Advanced Problem-solving skills
  • Good oral, written and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently record and report plant relevant and critical information and statuses
