About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Site Operative to join our team at Vistry Group. As a Site Operative, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our construction sites, maintaining a safe and clean working environment, and supporting the Site Management team in their duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out general labouring duties to assist the Site Management team in maintaining plots, compound, and surrounding areas.
  • Maintain and follow all safety procedures on the job site, reporting any violations immediately to Site Management.
  • Ensure the site is operating in accordance with health and safety requirements, reporting any breaches immediately and taking action if necessary.
  • Erect and maintain site safety signage, securing any hazards each evening prior to leaving site.
  • Provide basic first aid if required, having received the appropriate training.
  • Assist with the loading and unloading of site materials, ensuring they are protected in accordance with site material storage.
  • Minimise loss or damage to material, reporting any damages or loss immediately to Site Management.
  • Check and receive material deliveries in accordance with material strategies and site requirements.
  • Maintain site presentation, including tidiness and organisation of storage areas, clearing general debris, and ensuring compliance with the housekeeping policy.
  • Assist with the snagging and cleaning of plots, ensuring building areas, dwellings, and boundary areas are secure.
  • Open and close the site each day, supervising the main gate to ensure all visitors have valid operative entry and all deliveries are signed for and guided to the compound.
Requirements
  • Behave in line with our company values of integrity, caring, and quality.
  • Hold a valid UK driving license.
  • Have experience as a Labourer or trades person.
  • Demonstrate a genuine interest in working in the construction industry.
  • Be resourceful and capable of using your own initiative.
  • Have an excellent time-keeping and attendance record.
  • Be able to work effectively and safely under pressure.
  • Represent the Company professionally at all times.
  • Have attention to detail and be able to multitask.
  • Be customer-focused and willing to travel to other sites on a regular basis.
  • Be able and willing to attend site out of hours to deal with emergency situations.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Maths and English GCSE or equivalent.
  • One or more of the following trades: Carpentry, Bricklaying, Dry lining, Plastering, Painting & Decorating.
