About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Healthcare Leader to join our team as Deputy Chief Executive. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading our operations and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care.

The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of leadership and management, with experience of working in a complex and dynamic environment. They will be able to develop and implement effective strategies to improve patient outcomes and experience, and will have a deep understanding of the healthcare sector and its challenges.

The Deputy Chief Executive will be a key member of our executive team, working closely with the Chief Executive to develop and implement our strategic vision. They will be responsible for leading our clinical and operational teams, and will have a strong focus on quality, safety, and patient experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of our strategic vision
  • Oversee the delivery of high-quality patient care
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to improve patient outcomes and experience
  • Lead our clinical and operational teams
  • Work closely with the Chief Executive to develop and implement our strategic vision
Requirements
  • Master's degree or equivalent experience
  • Significant and successful recent experience and achievement at chief/deputy chief executive level in a similarly large, complex organisation or system
  • Proven experience of effective demand and capacity planning
  • Experience of business continuity and emergency preparedness planning and implementation
  • Experienced and inclusive senior leader with a strong commitment to clinical leadership and experience of building high performing, cohesive teams based on an open and inclusive culture
  • Proven ability to develop and articulate a clear and compelling strategic vision, consistently delivering high quality patient care and outcomes
  • Demonstrable experience of developing relationships into strategic partnerships to deliver mutual benefits and working with stakeholders at all levels and in a range of public, private and voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sectors
  • Extensive record of successful workforce, financial and resource management, ensuring high performance and holding individuals to account
  • Demonstrable and detailed understanding of current health issues, national policy and standards, as well as best practice locally, nationally and internationally
  • Demonstrable understanding and leadership to ensure robust corporate governance including adherence to Standing Orders, Scheme of Delegation and Standing Financial Instructions
  • Detailed understanding of the regulatory environment of the health sector
  • Highly developed analytical, data evaluation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make decisions within complex, often ambiguous scenarios, balancing analysis of key data with organisational pragmatism
  • Participation in Director on call rota
  • Able to travel across sites-reasonable adjustments will be made to facilitate this if required
