Job Description

Role Overview

QT Education Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and experienced English teacher to join our team as an Academic English Educator. As a key member of our faculty, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality curriculum provision within the English department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement engaging and effective lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of students.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Faculty to tailor the curriculum and ensure alignment with department priorities.
  • Conduct regular drop-ins and work scrutiny to ensure the curriculum is being delivered effectively.
  • Liaise with external agencies to arrange additional professional development sessions for teachers.
  • Work with the Best Outcomes Lead and Director of Faculty to ensure the academic year's curriculum is mapped out in advance and assessment and data points are in line with the academy calendar.
  • Ensure all resources, including lessons, printing, and texts, are available in good time before the next term and accessible to all staff.
  • Arrange the downloading and printing of end-of-term assessments for Y7-11 to ensure they are available for teachers to use in the last week of every term.
  • Create units of work and lessons where necessary, including bespoke revision resources that utilize the department's methodology.
  • Coordinate, monitor, and quality-check all adaptations of existing units of work to ensure they are of the best quality and fully aligned with department methodology and priorities.
  • Work with the Director of Faculty to manage homework within the department to ensure it is accessible and meaningful.
  • Work with the Best Outcomes Lead and Director of Faculty to ensure marking opportunities are embedded in the curriculum and clearly marked.
  • Clearly map out agreed curriculum plans for all staff that are accessible and easy to follow and implement, and inform and record co-planning meetings.
  • Ensure there are extra-curricular opportunities available for students within the English department, such as clubs and activities.

Requirements

  • Qualified and enthusiastic teacher of English with QTS, QTLS, PGCE, or equivalent.
  • Previous teaching experience.
  • Up-to-date safeguarding training issued in the last year (desirable but not essential).

  • Holds the right to work in the UK.
  • Provides two professional child-related references that cover the last two years.
  • Enhanced DBS certificate either on the online 'Update Service' or willing to apply for a new DBS certificate.
