We are part of the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), a UK government agency responsible for protecting people and places across England, Scotland, and Wales. Our mission is to protect employees, employers, members of the public, and residents affected by work-related activities. We strive to achieve this through effective risk management.
The Customer Services Team is a fast-paced, front-line operation that handles a high volume of health and safety concerns and advice requests. In the past year, we received over 52,000 new workplace health and safety concerns and advice requests. To continuously improve our services, we aim to adopt digital solutions where possible.
About the Role
We seek motivated and dedicated individuals with excellent customer service skills to join our team as a Customer Services Officer. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring HSE provides professional responses to health and safety concerns, advice requests, and building safety enquiries within strict deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- You will work as a call handler in a contact centre, answering calls professionally and directing customers to relevant information or completing online forms on their behalf.
- You will deal with switchboard calls for named contacts within HSE and undertake administrative support duties.
- You will collaborate with internal and external customers to gather accurate and relevant information, providing professional, timely, and accurate responses.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Experience working in a front-line delivery role.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey complex information concisely.
- Proficient IT skills to accurately record information in correct systems.
- Ability to log and record information appropriately.
- Exceptional organisational and time management skills.
- Analytical skills to interpret information from various sources.
- Ability to use initiative, intuition, and communication skills effectively.
