Consultant Psychiatrist Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal. This is a full-time position providing psychiatric care to inpatients on the Evergreen unit, alongside providing clinical leadership to ensure safe and effective service delivery.

Clinical Responsibilities:
  • Work as the Consultant and Responsible Clinician as part of the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT)
  • Take overall responsibility for patient care and treatment plans in conjunction with the MDT
  • Conduct timely assessments of referrals along with the MDT
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and treatment planning with patients, external stakeholders, and carers
  • Contribute to unit governance through expertise and leadership
  • Prepare and supervise reports for Mental Health Act Review Tribunals & Managers Hearings, and give evidence within these meetings
  • Participate in a non-resident second-on-call out-of-hours rota with a frequency of no more than 1:7
Management and Leadership:
  • Offer clinical leadership in collaboration with the Ward Manager
  • Ensure the ward is compliant with organisational and regulatory requirements
  • Attend ward governance meetings with the Ward Manager
  • Work with organisational quality improvement initiatives
  • Attend monthly governance meetings
Academic Opportunities:
  • Attend monthly academic meetings
  • Present cases and engage in teaching
  • Participate in audit, research, and quality improvement initiatives
Requirements:
  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree and MRCPsych with Section 12 approval
  • Full GMC registration with a license to practice
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, and the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Practice
  • Commitment to continued professional development
  • Desirable to have had significant experience of inpatient mental health acute units
  • Able to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
