We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced MCA & Safeguarding Practitioner to join our Safeguarding Adults team at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Key Responsibilities- Support the Safeguarding & MCA team in providing expert guidance to clinical areas.
- Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary and multi-agency teams to support individuals with decision making, through facilitating best interests meetings and case discussions.
- Develop and implement strategies to promote the use of least restrictive practices and provide advice on the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS).
- Act as an authorising manager for urgent DoLS and undertake tasks concerning the day-to-day organisation and operation of the team.
- Liaise with legal services over MCA/DoLS issues and maintain confidentiality as appropriate.
- Current registration as a qualified clinician (Nurse - RMN, RGN, RCN or RNLD, or OT) with at least 2 years post-qualifying experience in a clinical role.
- Strong understanding of the Mental Capacity Act and Safeguarding principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to carry out risk assessments and demonstrate a patient-focused approach.
