Brandon James, a leading national construction consultancy, is seeking a dedicated Principal Designer to join their dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a reputable firm known for delivering outstanding construction and property consultancy services across the UK.

The Principal Designer Role:

As a Principal Designer, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe delivery of construction projects by managing and coordinating health and safety during the pre-construction phase. You will be responsible for identifying, eliminating, and controlling foreseeable risks throughout the design process, ensuring compliance with the CDM 2015 regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate health and safety during the pre-construction phase
  • Identify, eliminate, and control foreseeable risks throughout the design process
  • Ensure compliance with the CDM 2015 regulations
  • Work closely with clients, designers, and contractors to provide expert advice on health and safety matters
  • Prepare pre-construction information and oversee the development of construction phase plans

Requirements:

  • Proven experience within the construction industry, particularly in a design or architectural capacity
  • Significant experience in the role of Principal Designer under CDM regulations, with a strong understanding of risk management in design
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent is essential; TechIOSH or APS accreditation would be advantageous
  • Previous experience within a construction consultancy environment, with a focus on providing Principal Designer services
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage client relationships effectively and lead design teams
