We are seeking a skilled Traffic Signal Maintenance Specialist to join our team at South Gloucestershire Council. As a key member of our highway electrical maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our traffic signal network.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out periodic visual inspections of traffic signals at SGC sites, accurately recording asset details and repairing faults as necessary.
- Attend to, diagnose, and repair basic traffic signal faults to ensure our sites are operational, adhering to safe working practices and quality standards.
- Contribute to site upgrade or new installation decisions, making informed judgments on design and specification.
- Ensure compliance with legislation and guidance, including Safety at Streetworks and Road Works code of practice, and risk assess and set out sites on the live highway in line with national guidance.
- Provide feedback for design and client functions, including specification, site trials, asset database, storage, new installations, and rechargeable works.
- Manage financial implications of tasks and consider cost-effectiveness of repair or replacement and recharge works projects.
- Hold a relevant qualification, e.g., minimum of NVQ 3 or equivalent qualification, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Have a working knowledge and experience of electrical installation and maintenance of electrical units in traffic signals and traffic signal experience.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and experience of safe working practices, including H&S legislation as it relates to highway electrical installations.
- Demonstrate confident, practical knowledge of traffic signal maintenance best practice, techniques, and working methods.
- Ability to identify problems and recommend workable and cost-effective solutions within time and resource constraints.
- Confident in completing documentation, answering technical queries, and providing technical support to others, sometimes working autonomously.
- Proven experience of working as part of a team and meeting service standards, targets, and deadlines.
