Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Clinical Pharmacist to join our Critical Care team at North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust. As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our clinical pharmacy services.

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage and deliver the pharmacy critical care service, working closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Develop and maintain the hospital formulary, collaborating with the Lead Pharmacist for Medicines Information to ensure accuracy and relevance.
  • Provide training and education to clinical staff on critical care skills, promoting best practice and improving patient outcomes.
  • Act as a trainee pharmacist tutor/diploma mentor, supporting the development of junior pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
  • Contribute to the writing and checking of pharmacy information bulletins, ensuring accurate and timely dissemination of information.
  • Lead and develop the clinical pharmacy service in critical care, promoting high-quality drug use, effective risk management, and patient safety initiatives.
  • Manage and advise on drug budgets, leading the development and evaluation of clinical pharmacy services.
  • Provide regular ward pharmacy commitments, ensuring a safe, effective, and efficient clinical pharmacy service.
  • Support the clinical pharmacy services, dispensary, production, and medicines management program as required.
  • Lead on and contribute to relevant practice research or audit projects, publishing results as appropriate.

Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications and experience:

  • MRPharmS or equivalent and registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Completion of a postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy/Pharmacy Practice or equivalent.
  • Mandatory Continuing Professional Development to maintain fitness to practice.

Desirable qualifications and experience include:

  • Independent Non-Medical Prescribing qualification.
  • Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
  • Management qualification or equivalent experience.
Knowledge and Experience

We are seeking a candidate with the following knowledge and experience:

  • Relevant hospital experience, including staff management and CRC experience.
  • Ability to manage and supervise staff, leading and implementing change.
  • Experience of managing or advising on drug expenditure, understanding of formulary and DUR, and clinical trial issues.
  • Understanding of risk management with medicines usage process.
