Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive maintenance support for all factory equipment, encompassing preventative, predictive, and breakdown maintenance.
  • Ensure optimal equipment performance by adhering to the Preventative Maintenance Plan and minimizing downtime.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of all production processes, from potato intake to palletising.
  • Execute mechanical and electrical repairs, including PLC updates, in accordance with manufacturer standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of critical spares, assets, and planned maintenance programs.
  • Collaborate effectively with operational teams during shift meetings to anticipate and resolve potential issues.
  • Respond promptly to breakdowns, prioritizing product quality and identifying root causes.
  • Assist the Maintenance Manager in analyzing ongoing maintenance challenges and proposing solutions to prevent future downtime.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workshop and spares area.
  • Contribute to achieving BRC accreditation and AIB standards at the desired level.
  • Ensure all work is conducted safely, adhering to both EHS and Food Safety protocols.
  • Support site-wide maintenance programs encompassing various areas such as roofs, car parks, CCTV systems, warehouse spaces, and utilities across multiple locations.
  • Operate equipment safely and proficiently, including forklifts, cherry pickers, and shunt vehicles.
  • Provide guidance and support to the GO group in developing their technical skills.
  • Oversee contractor activities by issuing Permits to Work and reviewing risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).

Qualifications

  • Proven mechanical and electrical maintenance expertise.
  • Experience working within a production environment.
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent time-served Engineering apprenticeship with demonstrable hands-on experience.
  • City & Guilds 2391 holder (Electrical Testing & Inspection).
  • Strong team player with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize workloads effectively to meet business needs.
  • Proficiency in computer applications such as Word and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications (Not Essential)

  • Experience within the FMCG or high-volume continuous production sector.
  • Experience leading and coaching a team.
